Book launch at Palazzo Rucellai on Tuesday, December 18 at 5:30 pm. ISI Florence Academic Director Stefano U. Baldassarri, Marino Biondi (Prof. of Italian Literature, Università di Firenze), and Prof. Sergio Givone (Prof. of Aesthetics, Università di Firenze and Alderman for Cultural Affairs) will present Calvino americano. Identità e viaggio nel nuovo mondo, the new volume by Alessandro Raveggi (Universidad Anáhuac, Mexico). Published in October by Casa Editrice Le Lettere, this book of Raveggi’s (former Prof. of Italian Language at ISI Florence) reconstructs the relationship between famous Italian writer Italo Calvino (1923-1985) and the ‘New World’, from his repeated visits to the U.S. to the many Central and Southern American intellectuals he frequented throughout his life.
