Community Engagement – internships & practicums for credit
As part of our initiative to help students gain valuable cross-cultural experience in an international environment, we promote many opportunities for community engagement, including credit-bearing internships, volunteer work, and service-learning activities. These projects give students invaluable hands-on understanding and extraordinary out-of-classroom exposure to the culture, language, and people of Italy.
The Internship & Practicum Courses are ideal for students who would like to give back to the community, to further broaden their cultural perspectives and intercultural awareness, and to see different communities from a more comparative, global standpoint all through dialogue and hands-on experience.
Community Engagement – volunteering
The numerous volunteering options available are also a rewarding way of integrating with the local community and, at the same time, improving your Italian language skills. Whether you have a passion for art history and an aptitude for leading groups; would love to participate in Florentine events and then write about your experiences; enthusiastic about working with children either in the classroom or on the playing field; you can make your contribution to Florence and engage with locals by signing up for one of ISI Florence’s carefully selected volunteering partnerships.
ISI Florence also offers internships that provide substantial opportunities to develop career readiness competencies. These enriching opportunities allow students to add important skills to their curriculum as they engage in critical thinking, effective communication in a professional work setting, collaborate on teams, and identify career management goals with a hands-on approach.
