Description
This course is designed to introduce students to fundamental materials, techniques, and styles of oil painting. It is for both beginners who are new to the technique of oil painting and for more advanced visual arts students. The course will introduce the basic materials used in oil painting, along with the fundamentals of drawing and color theory. In the first part of the course, students will learn some pictorial methods, following the teacher’s real-time video lessons. Students will then be introduced to the skills that are necessary to create painted images while being immersed in the Tuscan landscape and in Florence’s urban sites and historical monuments. A series of guided visits to local museums will also be included in this course.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
– Reproduce pictorial effects to create a painting
– Make a painted artistic copy of an image.
– Carry out painting projects showing personal style.
