Summer Session One

May 14 – June 27, 2025

Join us in early summer

Summer Session One consists of a six-week academic program that offers a variety of exciting courses in art history, food studies, film studies, psychology, studio arts, and more. One of the advantages of studying abroad in Italy during the summer is the vibrant cultural life that students enjoy at this particular time of year. Florence, as well as neighboring cities in Tuscany and central Italy, turn into open-air settings for a large number of activities and events, including concerts, festivals, and traditional holiday celebrations.

Free Elective Summer Program

Our Courses; Your Choices! Choose freely from among the ISI Florence summer course offerings selecting either the one-course or the two-course program. All courses are taught in English and include a variety of co-curricular activities and excursions. See course descriptions for details.

Field Trips & Activities

Nearly all ISI Florence courses have co-curricular excursions throughout Florence, Tuscany, and central Italy. Students often express that some of their favorite academic field trips involve exploring the mysteries of ancient art, the craft of artisan wine production, and the wonders of Italian food culture.

ISI Florence also offers a wide variety of activities each summer including social mixers, tandem language exchange, pizza and pasta nights, gelato tastings, cooking classes, day and overnight trips, and more!

Living Arrangements

Students will be housed in shared apartments located in Florence’s historical center within the backdrop they are studying. All apartments are within walking distance of the Institute’s facilities and other local resources, such as restaurants, supermarkets, gyms, pharmacies, and more. Apartments include fully-equipped kitchens, common living areas, double bedrooms, and study areas. ISI Florence scrutinizes each housing facility to ensure that it is clean, well-maintained, safe, and adequately furnished.

Covid Protocols

ISI Florence adopts all Covid-related preventive measures (at ISI Florence facilities, in student apartments, and on school excursions) in compliance with the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) and the Italian Health Ministry, as advised by the European Community and AACUPI (The Association of American College and University Programs in Italy) in order to ensure the highest levels of safety for students, faculty, and staff.
