The official website of Italian poet and artist Bartolo Cattafi is now available! This website is the result of an extensive philological study of Cattafi’s private archive started in 2010. Content editor Diego Bertelli (Yale, Ph.D. 2011), Italian Literature and Language professor at ISI Florence, collaborated with Enrico Brugnatelli, IT developer, and with Ada De Alessandri Cattafi, who has taken charge of her husband’s work since his death in 1979. Bertelli explains, “The website is an attempt to rethink Cattafi’s poetry in current terms. Nowadays, information cannot be exchanged successfully without the use of the Internet. It has been a challenging experience for us to see how the web could be the recipient of a new approach to the study of a poet. We thought in interdisciplinary and multimedia terms: downloadable content, radio interviews, video clips, images, reproductions of Cattafi’s drawings and paintings, and a new and up-to-date bio-bibliography. The next step will be the development of a download area with translations into English, French, German, Danish, Serbo-Croatian and Hungarian, just to mention some of the several languages Cattafi has been translated into over the years.”
