Bibbiena is an ancient town in the Casentino region to the east of Tuscany, situated on a hill overlooking the river Archiano which is a tributary of the Arno river. The town has very ancient roots in the Etruscan period (pre-Ancient Roman). It’s not a tourist village but it has an old town center with several monuments of great artistic value. It’s a shame that American students don’t get to discover such magical, off-the-beaten-path places: I am so grateful for this opportunity!
The notable buildings we enjoyed visiting on our trip were Palazzo Dovizi and Teatro Dovizi.
The last stop of the trip was Birreria La Campana D’Oro. This family-run brewery was established last year and is located in a dreamy farmhouse near Bibbiena. We learned about the entire production process and understood how the firm goes about producing, bottling, and distributing its beer.
