In the presence of Sara Di Maio (Mayor of Barberino di Mugello) and Federico Ignesti (Mayor of Scarperia), ISI Florence director Stefano U. Baldassarri, art historian/translator Zhang Zheng-Ying, Professor Francesco Vossilla (Gonzaga University) and China2000 CEO Michele Taccetti presented a brand-new guidebook to help Chinese tourists discover Florence, Fiesole, and the Mugello valley. Published by Studio Mavi Editore, the book was presented yesterday – July 2nd — in the Palazzo Pretorio of Barberino di Mugello. This new guidebook expands on the first edition, which Baldassarri, Vossilla and Zhang Zheng-Ying did in 2015, focusing only on Florence.

As Professor Baldassarri explained yesterday, the addition of Fiesole and the Mugello to the previous guidebook in Chinese (which our institute sponsored in 2015) reflects the social, economic, and cultural dynamics of late medieval and Renaissance Florence. Think, for instance, of such artists as Giotto and Beato Angelico, or the Medici family itself, Mino da Fiesole, Giuliano and Benedetto da Maiano.
