In March 2013 Italian architect and ISI faculty member Franco Pisani was invited to lecture for the design workshop Exploring the Limits at the Department of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology.
Prof. Sara Stroux (TU Delft) asked participants to think of radical strategies for the adaptive reuse of a church by adding, expanding, removing, demolishing, shrinking, dismantling, and transforming said church. They developed four test cases using deconsecrated churches in The Hague: Kruispunt, Bethel, Thomas, and Valkenbos.
Also, ISI wants to congratulate Franco for winning the landscape architecture competition for the design of Le Chiuse di Guadagna park in Sicily. The plan is less about design and more about our perception of nature and how to stimulate that perception, in this case through the transformation of an old manor into a holiday farm.
