Professor Franco Pisani’s ‘Velvet Topographies’ Now Showing at Galleria delle Arti di Emma Bardelli in Pistoia

ISI Florence is thrilled to announce the opening of Velvet Topographies, an exhibition by Professor Franco Pisani at the Galleria delle Arti di Emma Bardelli in Pistoia, inaugurated on October 31st.

Professor Pisani is a highly regarded member of the ISI Florence faculty, where he teaches Architecture and Interior Architecture Design Studio and History of Italian Design.

In Velvet Topographies, Professor Pisani invites viewers into an emotionally evocative space, normally reserved for the realm suspended somewhere between reality and one’s dreams. His works unfold across a landscape of darkness and light, where softness meets tension, and where the familiar texture of velvet becomes a metaphor for complex transitions. Pisani explores moments on the brink of wakefulness and sleep, where the mind oscillates between fantasy and consciousness, revealing inner topographies woven from layers of desire, fear, and comfort.

The exhibition presents an intricate tapestry of colored pencil drawings that capture the contours of dreamlike encounters, tracing the artist’s journeys within his own “velvet” landscapes. Through recurring imagery of folds, waves, and draped textures, Pisani evokes an intense sensory experience that resonates with the viewer’s imagination.

Velvet Topographies will be on display at Galleria delle Arti di Emma Bardelli through Sunday, November 17th.
