Leah is a Rutgers University undergraduate, studying Art History at ISI this fall. She is keeping a blog (“Postcards from Leah“) and loves writing about all the exciting things she is doing during her semester abroad. She told us that her intention while sharing her experiences is to keep her family updated. Reading through her pages has been compelling for all the staff here at ISI: we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Grazie Leah!
“I fell in love with art history my freshmen year when I took a class titled “The Age of Giotto” and I learned all about the influential artists that worked throughout Italy at the very early beginnings of the Renaissance. I knew that one day I would have to travel to Italy to see these spectacular works of art for myself and now I am! I chose to study in Florence, however, to really see and experience all the wonderful places in Italy and I will be primarily visiting cities here, from Padua to Positano. I hope you will enjoy reading about my travels and seeing the collection of postcards and photos I will amass over the next four months!”
From “Archeological Dig in Fiesole!”
I can now officially say I participated in an archeological dig. My archeology class went to Fiesole yesterday and today to work with our professor and her students from the University of Florence. The site we were working on was composed of Medieval, Roman, and Etruscan ruins. Our professor had showed us the site before in pictures during class but seeing everything in context was really awesome.
