Times are tough for the arts. In the last years it has become increasingly difficult to promote events such as art exhibitions and concerts. Luckily, ISI Florence likes to go against the current. Hence, among the many music-related initiatives in which we have been involved, the concert that Andrea Morricone gave at Villa Strozzi on September 17 stands out as a particular achievement. On that occasion, Morricone conducted the “Orchestra Filarmomica di Roma,” playing some of his best-known pieces such as the 2011 soundtrack to the movie The Industrialist. Co-sponsors of this event included the municipality of Florence, the Lions Club Mediovaldarno Galileo Galilei and the American Consulate in Florence.
Our students had a chance to talk to US Consul General Sarah Morrison, who attended the concert and kindly agreed to having her pictures taken with our ISI Florence concert-goers. It was a magnificent evening in every way.
