The proceedings of the international conference “Medieval Charm: Illuminated Manuscripts for Royal, Aristocratic, and Ecclesiastical Patronage”, held at ISI Florence in 2015, have been collected in a newly published volume edited by professors Florence Brazès-Moly and Francesca Marini. The book broadens approaches to understanding the making and function of illuminated manuscripts during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Prefaced by ISI Florence director Stefano U. Baldassarri, this illustrated volume gathers contributions by the conference organizers as well as Annette Hoffman, Giovanna Lazzi, Eberhard König, Josefina Planas Badenas, Bette Talvacchia, and Gennaro Toscano. Printed by TDO Éditions, this publication was made possible thanks to the following sponsors: ISI Florence, Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut, Istituto Universitario Olandese di Storia dell’Arte (Florence), Biblioteca Riccardiana (Florence), Universitat de Lleida (Spain), and Crédit Agricole (France).
