On November 27, internationally-renowned Italian writer Sandro Veronesi ─ author of award-winning novels translated into no less than fifteen languages ─ met with ISI Florence students at Palazzo Rucellai. Introduced by Raoul Bruni (Prof. of Italian Literature, Università di Padova), with ISI Academic Director and Dean of Students Prof. Baldassarri acting as discussant, Veronesi focused in particular on the relationship between current Italian literature and the film industry, fascinating the audience for well over an hour with his colloquial, passionate, and sincere talk. Answering questions from ISI students, he went over the main stages in his by now almost thirty-year-long literary career, shared his opinions on a number of stimulating cultural topics, and disclosed revealing details behind the writing of some of his famous novels, including best-sellers such as Caos calmo and La forza del passato, both of which have been made into successful movies featuring a cast of famous Italian and foreign actors.
