Alicia Moreira and Daniela Pardo are former ISI Florence students from the University of Maryland who studied on our Architecture program in Spring 2018 with Prof. Franco Pisani (ISI Florence, UMD & MU Architecture Program Coordinator).
This semester, both alumni are participating in a great project with WIA (Women in Architecture). They are working on designing a multi-purpose student center at a new school for girls in a village in Kenya. The studio is coordinated by Tonya Ohnstad, co-founder of Rhetra LLC / Kakenya Center for Excellence.
With the WIA organization, they are also working on fund-raising: they have designed and printed t-shirts and all proceeds will be donated to Kakenya’s Dream project.
We wish to share these amazing students’ message with all our ISI Florence community. Donate today!

Women in Architecture, a student organization at the University of Maryland, is holding a fundraiser in order to raise money for Kakenya’s Dream. 100% of the proceeds will be donated. Kakenya’s Dream is an incredible organization that works to provide education for Kenyan girls. Getting these girls into school and out of early marriage empowers them to become the inspiring young women they deserve to be.
For more information about Kakenya’s Dream, watch Kakenya’s TED Talk or visit their website.
To donate or purchase the unisex Equality T-shirt for Euros 18,00, please email [email protected] with your shirt size.
Thank you!
