Following the success of its first edition in the Fall Semester of 2014, Italian cadets of the Giulio Douhet Air Force Academy in Florence met up at Palazzo Rucellai during the Spring 2015 program with ISI students from the intermediate and advanced Florence Experience classes.
“It was a good chance to get to know Italian students and understand the differences in our cultures,” says Amanda Onofrio from Connecticut College. Natalie Pensak of Penn State adds, “it was fun to interact both in English and Italian, talking about free time and the different educational systems.” Thanks to the encouragement and support of ISI Italian language faculty and English professors of the Air Force Academy, the event was a success. The ultimate goal of this activity is to get our American students in touch with their peers in a real Italian context. Sydnie Kremidas of UConn says that it was a “fantastic opportunity to practice Italian in a different context from regular lessons.”
We look forward to hosting a new edition next year!
