How does architecture connect to music? Can an architectural style be interpreted through the mathematical structure of modern music? And, above all, would these challenging questions engage our students, arousing their curiosity? Maestro Gian Luca Lastraioli, lecturing on this subject for our ISI Architecture in Italy course, received an unmistakably positive answer. On March 19 this internationally renowned lute-player addressed the topic of Mathematical Harmony in Music and Architecture in a dazzling session of words, music and images. He ended the lecture jamming a lute duet with Rita Comanducci (Prof. of Art History, ISI Florence), around the famous Renaissance tune Lo Spagnoletto.
