Computer Science at ISI Florence

Prerequisite: Organic Chemistry I or equivalent
COURSE DESCRIPTION: To understand the structure of organic molecules and then proceed to investigate the chemistry of carbonyl compounds, basic and acidic Polar reactions as well as those Pericyclic compounds. We will do this by understanding and applying the concepts of organic chemistry.

Number systems, conversion methods, binary and complement arithmetic, Boolean algebra, circuit minimization, ROMs, PLAs, flip-flops, and synchronous sequential circuits.

Logic, sets, functions, elementary number theory and combinatorics, recursive algorithms, and mathematical reasoning, including induction. Emphasizes connections to computer science Discrete mathematics and foundations for modern computer science. Topics include sets, relations, logic, algorithms, graphs, finite state machines, and regular expressions.
Application areas include sets (finite and infinite), elementary combinatorial problems, and finite state automata. Development of tools and mechanisms for reasoning about discrete problems.

Vector-valued functions of several variables, partial derivatives, multiple integrations

Transfer credit course equivalencies

Students attending the Institute from Consortium members and partner institutions will receive an ISI Florence grade report which will be included in their official transcript from their home institution. Check with your academic advisor or registrar to ensure that ISI Florence credits will transfer to your home institution, especially if you expect to satisfy any graduation requirements.

What courses are for me?

You can freely choose from the curricular offerings and must enroll in a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 17 credits per semester, and include one course in the Italian language.

You’re going to love your quaint and adorable Italian apartment! Each neighborhood has plenty of grocery and convenience stores, buses, taxi stands, laundromats, post offices, and great cafès & restaurants within walking distance.

Meals

At ISI Florence, students are encouraged to cook for themselves. If cooking isn’t your thing, the ISI Florence student ID card is valid for discounts at many trattorias, pizzerias, and cafès in town; or take advantage of low-price cafeteria meals at the Università di Firenze cafeteria!
