Professional Fashion Writing at ISI in Summer 2015

Within a Communications/Journalism framework, we will offer an interdisciplinary class in Professional Fashion Writing during the summer term in 2015.  The course is aimed to students in Public Relations, Fine Arts, English, Advertising, Marketing, and Business, as well as Communications and Journalism. It will provide an excellent career preparation for work in the fashion industry, communications, and promotion.

The course will center on Florence as one of the main fashion capitals of the world. Students will visit leading commercial districts, markets, and streets in town. They’ll meet stylists, photographers, designers, models, and event planners.  They will tour fashion museums, leading fashion academies and schools, and other art centers. In June they will attend one of the major fashion events of the year, the world-famous “Pitti Immagine Uomo. An on-invitation-only series of events, with thousands of leading figures in men’s wear filling the city and creating an atmosphere of creativity and excitement.

The course will be held by Dr. Mark Bernheim, Specialist in Architecture and Design with PhD (Rutgers 1975). Dr. Bernheim has previously organized summer courses in Fashion Journalism, including onsite participation from “Project Runway” celebrities and local fashion photographers, stylists, designers, and models.
