ISI Florence and Kanazawa University Conference Proceedings just published

We are happy to announce that Tab Edizioni has just published the proceedings of the conference titled Guerre di religione e propaganda: 1350-1650 that ISI Florence and University of Kanazawa organized last Spring Semester.

Originally scheduled to be held at Palazzo Bargagli and Palazzo Rucellai on March 3-4, the event was cancelled because of the Covid pandemic. However, conference organizers Stefano U. Baldassarri (Director, ISI Florence) and Morihisa Ishiguro (Kanazawa University) decided to gather the papers that had been written for that purpose and publish them. Edited by Professor Baldassarri in a volume bearing the same title as the conference, the essays – some in English, some in Italian – address a variety of topics having to do with wars of religion and propaganda from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period, including crusades, political theory, the persecution of religious dissidents, missionaries in America and the Far East, the notion of ‘just war’ from a philosophical and legal point of view, and military architecture. As in the case of the first volume of conference proceedings that ISI Florence and Kanazawa University published together in 2017 (Italia e Giappone a confronto: cultura, psicologia, arti, published by Angelo Pontecorboli Editore), this time too, several Japanese scholars have contributed essays to the book. We are thus pleased to see our academic network extend and include universities from all parts of the world.
