ISI Florence is proud to co-host “The Birth and Transformation of Images in Sacred Sites,” an international conference bringing together scholars from Tokyo, Florence, and beyond to explore how sacred images form, transform, and endure across cultures and centuries.
From Japanese mountain-worship rituals to Renaissance monuments in Florence, the day traces a fascinating dialogue between East and West.
Co-organized with the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology at the University of Tokyo, the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz–Max Planck Institut, SAGAS (University of Florence), and the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Pavia.
Join us for a morning of interdisciplinary exchange on art history, religion, and heritage.
