“Cerca Trova” by Stefano Corazzini

Since the 1970s, a lot of effort has been put into finding the Battle of Anghiari, the lost fresco that Leonardo da Vinci is said to have painted at the beginning of the 16th century in the Salone dei Cinquecento, on the first floor of the Palazzo Vecchio. While some experts insist on searching for this painting, others believe that it is pointless to do so (and some even claim that it never existed).
In his book, architecture professor Stefano Corazzini (ISI Florence) traces the story of Leonardo’s mysterious fresco in the Palazzo Vecchio. In doing so, he focuses on all the studies and the documents concerning this topic, the technologies that have been used and the work done by scholars, art conservators and restorers in some fifty years of investigations.
