Traveling Around Europe

As we approach the second half of our study abroad experience, many people are still trying to squeeze in last minute weekend trips. Being in Florence keeps you close to most of the best sites in Italy and the rest of Europe, and there are a few places that are especially worth a trip to see!

Next, the food in Barcelona is a nice change from pasta and sandwiches. Whether it’s tapas, paella, or a sandwich from Bo De B’s, you can’t go wrong. On top of the food being delicious, most of it is reasonably priced, for those of you on a budget! Finally, as the weather gets colder here in Florence, Barcelona remains 75° F and sunny! If the sights and food aren’t enough to convince you, the weather should definitely do the trick! No matter what the reason, Barcelona is an amazing city and if you have not gone yet, I 100% recommend going soon!

If you have yet to visit Rome, it is an absolute must (it’s only a couple of hours away)! Because of its size, as well as its rich cultural history and presence of museums, ruins, etc, I firmly believe that there is something for everyone in Rome. Whether you are interested in eating delicious food, seeing historical wonders such as the Colosseum or the Sistine Chapel (and many more), experiencing the nightlife, or simply wandering the beautiful streets of the city, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Another great place for students to visit is Cinque Terre. As its name suggests, it’s a collection of five small villages set among the cliff sides of the Italian Riviera. The small picturesque towns are actually within a national Italian park, and so there are many hiking trails that go along the water or through the mountains between the towns. All five towns have beautiful seaside views, great food, and fun boutique shops to entertain you on your rests between hikes!
